"I had 6 months of extreme anxiety, weird body responses, heart pounding, and terrible insomnia. The medical world started to label me as a hysterical patient. After doing my own research I discovered all of these were side effects from carvedilol. After 1 week without it, most side effects are gone or seldom and my mind is clearing up from being foggy and confusing. It was a very difficult time for me and my husband, primarily with the multiple ER visits but also the cost involved in those trips as well as a sleep study which was horrible. I switched to a Chinese herb remedy. My blood pressure is even better than with Western medicine."

"I was diagnosed with heart failure back in 2002. The doctors started me on coreg and it definitely worked. My EF went from 39 to 56 over time. I have been on coreg since that time to treat my blood pressure problems and my EF has been normal since. I will always be on high blood pressure pills because even with a weight loss of 90 lbs since 2002, I still have high BP. Coreg is one of the few meds that does not give me any side effects and works great."

"I have been on carvedilol taking 12.5 mg. 4 x a day for over one year. It lowered my blood pressure but my feet and ankles have severe swelling no matter what kind of shoes I wear and my toes feel tingly most of the time. I wonder if this is a side effect of this medicine. I also started ExForge about the same time. It is difficult to walk for more than 30 min. I am 66 yrs. old and a female."

Coreg (carvedilol) "This Medicine had no affect on my HBP. I previously took Lisinopril, but needed to change medicines for another reason. My BP went very high (160/110) even after taking this medicine for 7 days and I had to be changed to another medicine."

"Well I'm 34 yrs old and been fighting with my blood pressure for about three years now. Partially because I was in denial about my condition and didn't want to take any medication. Well I started having headaches and chest pain and I needed to take something. My doctor put me on metoprolol 25mg and it kept my blood pressure down to a normal level but the side effects I couldn't take. Headaches, bad abdominal pains. I had to switch to something else. I've been on carvedilol 6.25mg for two days and I think its starting to work. I had pains in my chest and neck for about a week and its starting to slowly go away. If you smoke it's a bad idea to do it while on this medicine. I smoked for 14 yrs and this medicine forced me to stop and I'm thankful and healthier."

"I've been on this Coreg for eight months 25mg twice daily. I play golf and walked the courses before medication. Now, I can't even finish a par 3 course without getting out of breath and being extremely tired. This stuff is awful and doesn't work that well. I now get headaches daily and have trouble sleeping at night. Stay away from this."

"I was put on Coreg for unexplained rapid heart rate. My blood pressure was mostly controlled with lisinopril. I have been on it for about two years and now I am having side effects like shortness of breath and low systolic blood pressure 100/72 with 60-70bpm. I don't know whether or not I can get off of it due to my rapid heart rate."

"I am taking generic Carvedilol for 3 days now, perhaps I should wait a week or two before I can make a fair assessment of this medication, but I felt I should start by saying that I am only on 6.25 once a day due to hypertension. Never had high blood pressure in my life even when I was pregnant and gained 105 lbs after being only 115 lbs before I got pregnant. The only things I feel as for side effects are pain in my right knee, ringing in my ears and gas. I must say that my 175/110 bp went down to 130/ 75 but does jump up during the afternoon. I am one of those people who is paradoxical meaning I get the opposite effect of every side effect. I am going to write another review after 2 weeks, but for now pretty good."

"Cardio Dr reduced original RX to 1 6.25mg tab per day. Second day resulted in so many problems I concidered calling the paramedics. It was so bad I could not even think to call 911. Totally stopped it and had two episodes of weird Dreams that interrupted sleep."

"Carvedilol was added along with HCTZ 3/6/18, to be taken 2 x day for high blood pressure. Within the hour I started having sporadic migraine type headaches with severe " ice pick sensation" over top of head, mobilized, terrible headache pain behind eyes and back of head. Seems like chronic back pain was made worse. I feel even more tired, no energy, even less motivation, with horrible derealization. BP before was 152/90. BP later was 147/87-64. Glucose 126, 3 hrs after lunch. Migraine ice pick sensation back again, headache pain behind eyes with shooting headache at back of head at 4:12pm, BP 166/86-59. Glucose, 58, 5 hours after dinner. BP, 1:59 am 145/78-69. 2nd dose 2:20 am 140/75-69. I had taken HCTZ first, 2 hours later taken Carvedilol. My voiding seems normal, until taking Carvedilol which leaves a very noticeable decrease in voiding throughout the day and night. I also have experience feeling more cold, with hands and fingers tingling with palpitations in neck."

"Was on Lisinopril for two years from VA who repeatedly kept increasing it because I have high anxiety when going to doctors. I had big side effects. PCD said I wasn't complying with dosage. Finally had extreme episode with my kidneys and weaned myself off of this drug. New outside doctor put me on carvedilol which has minor side affects but had my blood pressure where it should be on small dosage.I got my 1st prescription at Walgreens and after 2 weeks, my BP was great. After that prescription ran out, I renewed it with VA. Results are my BP is 15mmhg higher now. I noticed manufacturer is a different one. I've read a lot of comments like this from people. Not all manufacturers are the same and doctors should listen to patients. Each of us are different and need different care. One drug does not fit all people. Doctors, stop listening to drug reps and be more concerned with your patients. They're the ones who pay your bills and need your help."

"Started this blood pressure medication 5 months ago. One month ago I started having lightheadedness and it was getting worse by the day it seems. I started out a dose of 6.25mg twice a day. Blood pressure still rising into the scary high numbers. My putzs of a doctor for 18 years said to double the medication. 18 years and you would think that your doctor would know your usual symptoms or even his patient right? Wrong! Not mine it seems, because after reading these reviews here it seems that the anxiety through the roof symptoms could of been avoided? The side effects of this drug are not worth it. Please when I tell you this believe me and others here. (unlike my own doctor) I would go cold turkey but you cannot do that with dangerously high bp #’s . So I changed doctors and changed medications too. (Diuretics) But I have to slowly wean off this Carvedilol garbage for about 4 weeks."

"Here's my experience with coreg. Took the minimum dose for hypertension (6.25 mg twice a day according to the doctor). Freaked me out at first during the first couple of weeks. Increased anxiety, felt somewhat fatigued. But after getting used to it, BP would be in the 110's/70's range so really good BP. However, if I got the slightest bit of anger or anxiety, BP would get elevated to the 130's/90's range. After 2 months of this, dumped my primary care doctor and switched to another one. New doctor prescribed 50 mg of metoprolol per day and 5 mg of lexapro to help with the anxiety. Tried lexapro before with the coreg but the third night I felt hot and felt weird heartbeat so I stopped. Told the new doctor what happened before with lexapro, but he said it wasn't the lexapro but the coreg. Start the metoprolol tomorrow and lexapro a couple days later, so hopefully this works. This is my experience so coreg may work for you but it didn't help much."

"OK so my blood pressure shot up to 240/140 with a 140 heart rate. It stayed that way while I was in the emergency room. It was early September. Maybe because I’m a nurse but also because I question everything I also saw that my calcium levels were up and I remembered they had been up before at my doc appt labs. My doctors always dismissed it. This time I did my own research. I was not taking any calcium supplements. I asked for a vitamin D and PTH level to be drawn. Voila, I have hyperparathyroidism. I am perceiving that’s why my blood pressure has been an issue for quite some time but we worse after getting Covid this year. Still better than getting the vax. I am taking 10 mg amlodipine 45 mg of losartan and most recently started carvedilol 6.25mg 2x/day. I am having stomach pain, nausea, and fatigue. I’m going to talk to the cardiologist about getting off this crap tomorrow. I will tolerate possibly a lower dose but I wanna know why it’s causing G.I. issues."

"I am about to take this right now for the first time. After reading all of your reviews I must say I'm nervous. But because my BP ranges from 170/200 at times I have no choice but to try it out. I'll send another review in a few days of taking this medication. Oh, and the mg that my PCP prescribed me is 12.5mg"

"I was surprised to see the serious difficulties some folks had. My primary couldn't find a HBP Med that would work. He tried maybe 5 different kinds none worked till Carvedilol. My HBP dropped to a regular number in 2 hours or less, I have no side effects. Been taking 25mg am & 25pm for 3 years."

"While being care giver for my dying husband I rarely remembered to take BP meds. One day I felt terrible and checked my BP. It was 120/111. Trip to doc. Put on increasing doses of Carvedilol, up to 25mg twice a day with zero results. Lowest BP 147/89 usually 190/86. Do not feel this is working and have asked doctor to try something else. Problem is systolic is much higher but diastolic is not. Doctor says my heart is good and lungs clear despite having the flu. I am 82 years old. Had a stress test two years ago, which was perfect. I am hoping she may add something to bring down the systolic. I have had few side effects"

"(Carvedilol 25 ) This drug makes me feel terrible, it makes me very sleepy, it makes me have nightmares. I forget this and I get confused, I also get depressed and don't care about anything or being around anyone. Most of the time I am awake at 4 and never go back to sleep but it does keep my BP down."

"Carvedilol was added to current medication, Losartan, I am taking. It is NOT helping lowering my BP. And after having taken Carvedilol for three months, I started having terrible headache (back and both sides), upset stomach (feeling nauseous) issues. I plan to ask my doctor to approve me to stop Carvedilol."

"Just do yourself a favor and don't even bother with this medication! I am a 32 year old female that has been sick for 5 months now with unexplained high blood pressure and fast sinus tachycardia. I've never had problems like this ever before so doctors are blaming Covid, but don't actually know what the cause is. I was on propranolol since being in and out of the hospital with high heart rate and blood pressure and after being on it at 20 mg three times a day my blood pressure and heart rate was finally normal but it started causing me severe mental side effects. I had brain fog and confusion all the time vivid dreams and nightmares severe anxiety paranoia and panic attacks so after begging my doctor to please switch me to something else she gave me this medication carvedilol 6.25 mgs twice a day I took it and I felt like I was dying and my heart was going to explode out of my chest. I couldn't walk my heart was racing and pounding. I had severe body pain, confusion, drowsiness and ER visit."

Coreg CR (carvedilol) "Switched from Atenolol after many years due to usual beta blocker problems (tiredness, etc) and blood pressure wouldn't stay down long, tightness in chest and breathlessness. After 3 months on Coreg CR, tightness in chest much better, breathlessness no change, blood pressure stays down all day, but is 147/91 at night and in the morning. It is 113/57 two hours after medication, but I am also taking Isosorbide ER at the same time, which also lowers blood pressure as a side effect. Coreg CR is much more expensive, but I would rather take this anytime compared to Atenolol. Also beware of mixing these with Nasonex (no matter what they say) and any cold decongestants with phenylephrine. They will increase blood pressure."

"Ruined everything!after being healthy and taking Zestril for 25years for moderate blood pressure, the doctor suggested I try Coreg! Within 6-8 weeks, I passed out face down while golfing with friends! I would pass out in my chair, several times a day?!! Only two months before, I visited the Napa wine country with my son & wife. My wife was in a wheelchair, & I pushed her all through the airport, lifted luggage , ate whatever I wanted, salt was not a restriction!!! Coreg changed all thr At in 8 weeks! I ended up developing bradycardia ! (Slow heartbeat) I could it rt it back! Now they tell me I have developed amyloidosis(?) overly hat slowing my heart rate had something to do with this, no matter what they say!"

"I just started taking this med once a day with the 6.25 dosage and it really did not help much. Blood pressure was still high. My doc recommended taking this twice a day, but lowering the dosage to 3.125, once in the morning and once at night. It made a huge difference. It took a month or so, but there were no longer erratic/high readings in blood pressure. I got it under control on a consistent basis. Instead, there were consistent normal readings on my blood pressure along with my pulse rate being normal/lower than what it was before..."
